A new, up-to-date digital edition of “Champagne – The Future Uncorked” is now available.

A wine book is never finished.
With subtly changing ideas, or drastically changing views, one can make great strides. A book can always be more complete. At least with my book, “Champagne – The Future Uncorked”, it is so.
For an inexplicable reason, the vineyard maps of grand cru Chouilly and premier cru Cuis are missing. I also originally wanted to include 101 producers – houses and family domains – in my book. But quite rightly, Jan Bartelsman, the sublime photographer of “Champagne – The Future Uncorked”, in December 2016 said to me: “Call it a day, stop now, because otherwise it will be a never-ending story”.
He was quite right, and I did just that.
Thus, in the original book, published in the summer of 2017, there are not 101, but 76 very good to excellent champagne producers. But with that, some excellent producers have been let down, as well as the interested champagne enthusiast. In the meantime, I have also discovered some extremely talented champagne growers. And between 2016 and now, so many new champagnes and new vintages from all those outstandingly performing producers have entered the market.
This is reason enough to regularly travel to Champagne, and how nice it is, that “Champagne – The Future Uncorked” exists not only as a printed book, but also as an interactive digital book, for sale in the Apple iBooks store (ideally for iPad users). If I wanted (and if I could), I could post daily improvements, extensions, updates. Such a digital book improves and grows over time and is always up-to-date.
And so it is with “Champagne – The Future Uncorked”. Since this summer, a new, revised in some respects, supplemented in other respects and extensively updated edition is available including a number of new producers, including Veuve Fourny & Fils (Côte des Blancs), Coessens, Piollot Père & Fils, Ruppert-Leroy and Robert Barbichon (all in the Côte des Bar in the Aube).
At the last count, two companies that were previously rated with four stars (very good), have now received five stars (excellent) in the updated edition of the digital book, namely Leclerc Briant and Pol Roger.
Owners of the iBook receive revisions and additions for free and will also receive more in the near future. Because you need to know: the search for new information and for new, talented champagne producers is being continued. Champagne is a never-ending story and in the digital edition, this also applies to “Champagne – The Future Uncorked”.
