Champagne Barons de Rothschild
In my book “Champagne – The Future Uncorked”, you will find the profile of Champagne Barons de Rothschild on pages 389-392. And some things are progressing. For example, I write in the book that the annual production is 300,000 bottles and that the goal is 500,000 in the near future. Apparently, that near future has already arrived, because 500,000 bottles per year have now become a reality.
Colour and nose
…clearly show that it is now 12 years old: golden yellow and powerful, opulent, expressive, ripe aromas of noisette in honey, yellow stone fruit (apricot, peach).
On the palate
…it is a sturdy and youthful 2008: mineral, fresh, chalky and vigorous with a firm, but well integrated mousse. A wine with length, balance, maturity, fresh robustness and complexity. Very good.
In the Netherlands, most of these wines will go to fine dining restaurants.
